Most infant message boards, in an attempt to increase post count and thread count, have the trend where users will simply start new threads on just about anything resulting in duplicate threads and junk threads. A designated ‘Random’ thread is essentially the agreed upon dumping ground for all random posting that otherwise would account for an entire thread basically constituting of one post and not much else. Though if you think too long about how the Random Crap section needs a set of random threads to contain all of the pure randomness, your brain might explode. Page Cap There’s an unofficial moratorium on page count within threads that was started by moderator Dancin' Dude which puts a cap on threads at 100 pages. It’s up to moderators to catch threads at 100 pages and block them from further posts however users will try and sneak pages over 100 into threads when moderators are not on. Tard Blocking The general blocking of threads in progress so that no user other than moderators can post in the thread. Tard blocking occurs when a thread is at 100 pages, is created by a bot or is too retarded to go on living. Hence, the thread is blocked from tards posting in it or being perpetuated by the tards that created it. Secret Santa Emulating other message boards, the secret Santa trend started in 2004 whereby regular and semi-regular users would collectively agree to participate in a secret Santa program. Responses have been good enough to keep the trend going for three consecutive years. The organizers of the event have been users droid77 and Dancin' Dude. Users wishing to participate in the secret Santa program would send their real names and addresses to whomever was the organizer of the event for the year. The organizer would then randomly match up the participating users and email the pertinent address and name data to each participating user. Typically, the way of alerting users as to the success and/or failure of the program is placed in a sticky thread within the Random Crap section. Bad Candy Directory Started and administered by user Mouko31 in 2006, the Bad Candy Directory is a participatory program existing to provide regular users with personal information about each other as far as geographic location and phone numbers are concerned. Birthed as an idea to keep users connected in the ‘real’ world in case of travel and having a human contact in areas of the US and Canada outside of the message board, it has had mixed reviews. Seemingly, the only usage it has received to date has been by the user Noodulz to contact via phone as many users on the list for a period of time in late 2006 while intoxicated. Hall Of Fame A permanent topic within the Random Crap thread, the hall of fame is a thread used specifically for preserving and calling attention to posts that users find particularly funny. The thread itself is not a discussion thread and indeed, any posted discussion is typically deleted by moderators. It exists to showcase postings that have caused users to actually LOL. Always sticky, most likely because John Cheese started it. World Of Warcraft Guild An ofshoot of the BC community is the bad candy Alliance guild ‘Honey Bunches of Death’ on the Proudmoore server in the MMORPG World of Warcraft. The guild is open to all users within Bad Candy however is primarily used only by 5 with occasional usage by some dozen more. The guild was formed in 2005 by Jryan as he was already involved with the game. As such, in an attempt to stay connected within the game all new users have been primarily Alliance characters however with the expansion of the game on 1/16/07 the guild collectively decided to create a Horde guild and begin playing the other side of the game.
