Anyone could post anonymously or under any name, users could only be blocked by IP address, and deleting posts was a chore at best. As a result, the boards eventually devolved into an unsustainable mess. Rather than deal with the problem, Mark just pretended to die and left for about year. He eventually returned to resuscitate the site (whose hosting had lapsed and design had grown embarrassing) and install the current iteration of the messageboards. |
