SecretSantaEmulating other message boards, the secret Santa trend started in 2004 whereby regular and semi-regular users would collectively agree to participate in a secret Santa program. Responses have been good enough to keep the trend going for three consecutive years. The organizers of the event have been users droid77 and Dancin’ Dude. Users wishing to participate in the secret Santa program would send their real names and addresses to whomever was the organizer of the event for the year. The organizer would then randomly match up the participating users and email the pertinent address and name data to each participating user. Typically, the way of alerting users as to the success and/or failure of the program is placed in a sticky thread within the Random Crap section. 2005 was the first year of the program with a near 100% success rate. |
